Description of State Maintenance Boundary Lines established for

delimiting the urban area of  

Wells, York County, Maine

Wells

Beginning at a point on Wells/Ogunquit town line due south of the intersection of Tatnic Road (I.R. #730) and Libby Lane (I.R. #3313); thence, due north to said intersection; thence, northerly to Charles Chase Road (State Route 9B) at a point 1.04 miles west of U.S. 1, reference pole #J31; thence, northwesterly to the west end of Pineledge Drive (I.R. #80061); thence, northeasterly to the intersection of Chapel Road (I.R. #744) and U.S. 1; thence, northwesterly to the intersection of Chapel Road (I.R. #744) and State Routes 9 and 109; thence, westerly along the southerly right of way of Route 9 to a point 0.78 miles west of State Route 109; thence, easterly along the northerly right of way of Route 9 to the intersection of Chapel Road (I.R. #744) and State Routes 9; thence, easterly via the northerly right of way of State Route 9 and 109 to the westerly right of way of U.S. 1; thence, northerly via the westerly right of way of U.S. Route 1, to the Wells-Kennebunk Town Line; thence, southerly via the easterly right of way of U.S. Route 1 to the intersection with State Route 9 (Cozy Corner); thence, northeasterly via the northerly right of way of State Route 9 to a point 0.76 miles east of U.S. Route 1; thence, crossing State Route 9 to the southerly right of way of said Route; thence, northeasterly via the southerly right of way of State Route 9 to Wells/Kennebunk town line; thence, southeasterly via said town line to the Atlantic Ocean; thence, southerly via said Ocean to the Wells/Ogunquit town line; thence, westerly via said town line to a point due south of the intersection of Tatnic Road (I.R. #730) and Libby Lane (I.R. #3313), the point of beginning.

 

Also, a section of State Route 9A, beginning at the intersection of State Route # 109 and extending northerly to a point 0.78 miles north of State Route # 109, reference utility pole # 14.

 

Also, a section of State Route 9B, beginning at the intersection of State Route # 9 and extending easterly 1.99 miles to the intersection of Loop Road easterly end (I.R. # 738).

 

Also, a section of State Route 109, beginning at a point 0.14 miles southeast of Pool Drive (I.R. #3382) and extending northwesterly 1.20 miles, 0.09 miles south of Bald Hill Road (I.R. # 728).  

NOTE: Bridges, if any, bisected by the State Maintenance Line are in the rural area.
