The Maine Department of
Transportation owns a limited amount of lighting equipment in the
State. This equipment falls into four catagories:
Category
1 - Signals: This group consists of 3-section traffic signals. These
signals consist of a Red, Amber and Green light connected together,
usually hanging above major intersections
Category 2 - Beacons: This section consists of 3 and 4 way
flashers commonly referred to as beacons or flashers. These
are usually on minor, high traffic intersections. These
continually flash amber or red
Category 3 - Dynamic Signs: This
section consists of all vehicle actuated or electrically
operated traffic signs (i.e.: Speed
To Fast For Curve). This section does not include
regular unlit interstate signing.
Category 4 - Highway Lighting: This
sections consist of all State owned interstate and intersection
