Description of State Maintenance Boundary Lines established for

delimiting the urban area of

 

Saco, York County, Maine

Saco

Beginning at a point on U.S. Route 1 at its intersection with Cascade Road (State Route 98); thence, southeasterly via the northeasterly right-of-way of Cascade Road (State Route 98) to the Saco-Old Orchard Beach town line; thence, southwesterly via said town line to Goosefare Brook; thence, easterly and southerly via said town line and brook to the confluence of Goosefare Brook and the Atlantic Ocean; thence, southerly in the Atlantic Ocean parallel to the shore line to the confluence of the Saco River;

 

Thence, northwesterly via said river and Biddeford-Saco town line, crossing Main Street (State Route 9), the Boston and Maine Springfield Railroad, Elm Street (U.S. Route 1), Market Street, and the Boston and Maine Railroad again to the entrance of Thatcher Brook; thence, northerly to a point on Lincoln Street 0.17 miles east of Skyline Drive, reference Power Transmission Line; thence, northwesterly to the southerly right-of-way of Bradley Street (State Route 5) at the junction of Shadagee Road; thence, northwesterly along the southwesterly right-of-way of Bradley Street crossing the Maine Turnpike to a point on Bradley Street (State Route 5) 0.33 miles northwesterly of Shadagee Road, point of reference utility pole #64; thence, crossing Bradley Street (State Route 5) to its northeasterly right-of-way; thence, southeasterly via said right-of-way crossing the Maine Turnpike (Interstate Route 95) to Shadagee Road; thence, northeasterly to a point on Shadagee Road 0.20 miles westerly of Garfield Street, point of reference utility pole #J-19;

 

Thence, northeasterly to North Street (State Route 112) at the intersection of Lund Industrial Road; thence, northwesterly via the southwesterly right-of-way of North Street (State Route 112), crossing the Maine Turnpike (Interstate Route 95), to the convergence of said right-of-way and the westerly right-of-way of the Maine Turnpike (Interstate Route 95); thence, westerly to the intersection of Hillview Ave. and Jeffery Way; thence, northwesterly to the southwesterly extremity of Douglas Ave.; thence, northwesterly to the intersection of Route 112 and Louden Road (Inventory Road # 924); thence southwesterly along the southerly right of way of Louden Road for 1.01 miles, reference CMP pole # 45, north east side of road; thence northeasterly along the northerly right of way of Louden Road to the junction of State Route # 112; thence, northwesterly along the southwesterly right of way of Route #112 to the intersection of Simpson Road (Inventory Road # 931); thence, southeasterly along the northeasterly right of way of Route 112 to Heath Road (Inventory Road # 943); thence, southeasterly to a point on Jenkins Road, 0.10 miles northeasterly of North Street (State Route 112), point of reference utility pole #J-4; thence, southeasterly to the convergence of the northerly right-of-way of North Street (State Route 112) and the westerly right-of-way of the Maine Turnpike (Interstate Route 95);

 

Thence, southeasterly via the northerly right-of-way of North Street (State Route 112), crossing the Maine Turnpike (Interstate Route 95), to its convergence with the easterly right-of-way of the Maine Turnpike (Interstate Route 95); thence, northeasterly via said right-of-way crossing I-195, to a point northwest of the most northerly extremity of Wiley Road; thence, northeasterly to a point on Flag Pond Road 0.26 miles northwest of US Route 1; thence, northeasterly to U.S. Route 1 at the Saco-Scarborough town line; thence, southwesterly via the southeasterly right-of-way of U.S. Route 1 to its intersection with Cascade Road, the point of beginning.

 

Also, a section of State Route #112, beginning 0.34 miles northwest of the junction of Rocky Hill Road (inventory road # 947), reference CMP pole # 44; thence, northwesterly along the northeasterly right-of-way of State Route #112 for a distance of 1.05 miles to the junction of State Route # 117; thence, northwesterly along the northeasterly right-of-way of State Route # 117 to the Saco-Buxton Town Line; thence, southeasterly along the southwesterly right of way of State Route # 117 to the junction of State Route # 112; thence, southeasterly along the southwesterly right of way of State Route # 112 for 1.05 miles, reference CMP pole # 44, the point of beginning.

 

Note: Bridges, if any, bisected by the State Maintenance Lines are in the rural area.
