Description of State Maintenance Boundary Lines established
for delimiting the urban area of

Rumford, Oxford County, Maine


Rumford

Beginning at a bridge on Hancock Street (State Route 120) 0.56 of a mile north of Tasker Avenue; thence, northeasterly through the Swift River to the Mexico-Rumford town line; thence, southeasterly and southwesterly via said town line to the Swift River; thence, southeasterly via said town line in the Swift and Androscoggin Rivers crossing Lincoln Avenue (US Route 2), and Railroad Street (F.A.P. 25-1) to a point due north of Canton Road (State Route 108) 0.81 of a mile southeasterly of Smithville Road, point of reference utility pole #J72/2; thence, due south to said point; thence, northwesterly to Central Maine Power Company Dam in the Androscoggin River; thence, southerly via said river crossing South Rumford Road (Inventory Road #10059); thence, southeasterly and southwesterly along west right-of-way of Route 2 to the southerly intersection of Prospect Avenue (Inventory Road #10050); thence, northwesterly to a westerly extension of the alignment of Holyoke Street 200’ from Beech Street; thence, northerly to Spruce Street at the junction of Inventory Road #353 (Eaton Hill Road); thence, southeasterly to a northerly extension of the alignment of Maple Street 0.21 of a mile northwesterly of Stafford Street; thence, northeasterly to Hancock Street (State Route 120) at a bridge 0.56 of a mile north of Tasker Avenue, the point of beginning.

South Rumford

Beginning at a point on the South Rumford Road 0.09 of a mile north of the junction of Wyman Hill Road, point of reference utility pole #J-26 east side of road; thence, southeasterly to Wyman Hill Road at a point 1.00 mile southeast of the South Rumford Road, point of reference utility pole #4/23 southwest side of road; thence, northwesterly crossing Logan Brook to the South Rumford Road at a point 0.15 of a mile southwest of a bridge over said Brook, point of reference utility pole #47/4/17; thence, northerly to a point in Logan Brook due west of utility pole #J-26 on the South Rumford Road; thence, due east to the South Rumford Road at said utility pole, the point of beginning.

Rumford Center

Begin at junction of U.S. Route 2 and Inventory Road #1080; thence, easterly 0.34 of a mile to utility pole #4/35; thence, westerly to Inventory Road #1080, point of beginning.

Rumford Point (U.S. Route 2)

Begin 0.42 of a mile east of the junction of U.S. Route 2 and State Route 5 at utility pole #104; thence, easterly via right-of-way 0.55 of a mile to a point 0.35 of a mile east of the junction of U.S. Route 2 and State Route 232, point of reference utility pole #5/83; thence, westerly via north right-of-way to utility pole #104, point of beginning.

Note: Bridges, if any, bisected by the State Maintenance Line are in the rural area.
