MAINE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

 

Description of State Maintenance Boundary Lines established for

delimiting the urban area of

Orono, Penobscot County, Maine

Orono

 

Beginning at a point on College Avenue, at its intersection with the Orono-Old Town town line; thence, easterly and southerly via said town line crossing U.S. Route 2 into the Penobscot River; thence, southerly via said river, the Orono-Bradley and Orono-Eddingtion town lines to the convergence of the Orono-Eddington-Veazie town lines; thence, northwesterly via the Orono-Veazie town line, crossing Main Street (U.S. Route 2) to a point 660 feet easterly of the easterly right-of-way of Interstate Route 95; thence, northerly via a line 660 feet easterly of and parallel to the easterly right-of-way of Interstate Route 95 to a point due south of a point on Kelly Road at its intersection with the northbound on ramp to Interstate Route 95; thence, due north to said point; thence, due east to a point on a line 660 feet from and parallel to the easterly right-of-way of Interstate Route 95; thence, northerly via said line, crossing Forest Avenue to a point due east of a point on Stillwater Avenue at its intersection with the northbound on ramp to Interstate Route 95; thence, due west to said point; thence, northerly to the Orono-Old Town town line via a line between said ramp and the western extremity of Sargent School Drive in Old Town; thence, via the many courses of said town line, crossing Stillwater Avenue, Bennoch Road (State Route 16), and the Stillwater River to its intersection with College Avenue (U.S. Route 2A), the point of beginning.

 

Note: Bridges, if any, bisected by the state maintenance line are in the rural area.
