Description of State Maintenance Boundary Lines established for

delimiting the urban area of

 

Kennebunk, York County, Maine

 

Kennebunk

 

Beginning at the junction of Emmons Road and Ross Road; thence, easterly to Portland Street (U.S. Route 1) at the Kennebunk-Arundel Town Line; thence southwesterly along the Kennebunk-Arundel Town Line to Durrell's Bridge Road (I.R. #1202); thence, westerly along the northerly right of way of Durrell's Bridge Road to the junction of Summer Street (State Routes 9A and 35); thence, southeasterly to the Kennebunk River at a power transmission line; thence, southerly via the Kennebunk River (Kennebunk-Arundel & Kennebunkport town lines) through Wells Road (State Route 9) into the Atlantic Ocean; thence, southwesterly in said ocean, rounding Lord's Point to a point due south of the mouth of the Mousam River; thence, northerly up the Mousam River to a point west of the tidal creek north of Great Hill; thence, northeasterly to a point on Wells Road (State Route 9) 0.23 miles west of the intersection of Sea Road, point of reference utility pole #67A; thence, westerly along the northerly right-of-way of Wells Road (State Route 9) to the Mousam River; thence, northerly via said river to the Boston & Maine-Springfield Terminal Railroad Bridge over said river; thence, southwesterly to the junction of Brown Street and an unnamed road (I.R. #473) 0.45 mile south of Day Street; thence, southwesterly to York Street (U.S. Route 1) at the Wells-Kennebunk Town Line.

 

Thence, northerly to High Street (State Route 9A) to a point 0.17 mile east of Harrisecket Road; thence, northerly to the Cat Mousam Street (State Route 99) at the Maine Turnpike overpass bridge; thence, northwesterly along the southerly right of way of Cat Mousam Street (State Route 99) to the intersection of Webber Hill Road and Mill St.; thence, northerly to a point on Mill Street (I.R. #20831) 0.32 miles south of Main St # 2, point of reference utility pole #705/15; thence, northerly along the westerly right of way of Mill Street to Main St. # 2; thence westerly along the southerly right of way of Main Street # 2 a point 0.77 miles west of Thomson Road; thence easterly along the northerly right of way of Main Street # 2 to Fletcher St. (State Route 35); thence, northerly along the westerly right of way of Alewife Road (State Route 35) to a point 0.04 miles north of the intersection of Thomson Road, reference utility pole # 71; thence, southeasterly to the junction of Emmons Road and Ross Road, the point of beginning.

 

Note: Bridges, if any, bisected by the State Maintenance Line are in the rural area.
