Description of State Maintenance Boundary Lines established for

delimiting the urban area of

 

Biddeford, York County, Maine

Biddeford

 

Beginning at a point on South St (inventory road # 920) 0.46 miles west of River Road (inventory road # 891), reference utility pole #140; thence, easterly via the northerly right-of-way of South Street to the easterly right-of-way of I-95 (Maine Turnpike); thence, northerly via said right-of-way to the Biddeford-Saco Town Line in the Saco River; thence, easterly and southerly via said Town Line and river into the waters of Saco Bay to a point due north of the east end of the Hills Beach peninsula.

 

 

Thence southerly into Wood Island Harbor along the westernmost extremities of Stage Island and continuing to the easternmost extremities of the Hills Beach peninsula; thence southerly into “The Pool” and continuing northwesterly via the southerly shoreline of the Hills Beach peninsula into Back Bay to the inlet of an unnamed brook; thence northwesterly to the junction of Hills Beach Road and Pool Road; thence westerly through said junction to the junction of State Routes 9-208 and Newton Road; thence westerly through said junction to a point on West Street 0.77 mile southeast of Guinea Road, reference utility pole # 132;

 

Thence, westerly to the intersection of Guinea Road and Proctor Road (inventory road # 846); thence, westerly to Elm Street (U.S. 1) at the Biddeford-Arundel Town Line; thence, northwesterly via said Town Line to the Boston and Maine R.R.; thence, northerly to Alfred Road (State Route 111) at the entrance to the Maine Turnpike; thence, westerly along the southerly right of way of State Route 111 to the Biddeford -Alfred town line; thence, easterly along the northerly right of way of State Route 111 to the entrance to the Maine Turnpike; thence, northeasterly to the intersection of South Street and Cathedral Oaks; thence, westerly along the southerly right of way of South St (inventory road # 891 & # 920) to a point 0.46 miles west of River Road (inventory road # 891), reference utility pole #140, the point of beginning.

 

A section of West Street (inventory road # 958) beginning at a point 0.61 north of State Route 9, reference utility # 165, and extending northerly for 0.60 miles, reference utility pole # 150.

 

Biddeford Pool

 

Beginning on Bridge Street (State Route 208) at the intersection of State Route 9; thence southeasterly along the northerly right of way of Bridge St to a point 0.11 mile west of Fortunes Rocks Road (inventory road 1844), reference utility pole #J-281; thence, northerly to Back Bay; thence, via the various courses of Back Bay and the Atlantic Ocean to a point due east of the Junction of Bridge Street (State Route 208) and Fortunes Rocks Road (inventory road 1844); thence, westerly through said Junction to a point on Bridge Street (State Route 208) 0.11 mile west of Fortunes Rocks Road (inventory road 1844), reference utility pole #J-281; thence, northwesterly along the southerly right of way of Bridge St to the intersection of State Route 9, the point of beginning.

 

NOTE: Bridges, if any, bisected by the State Maintenance Line are in the rural area.
