MAINE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

 

Description of State Maintenance Boundary Lines established for

delimiting the urban area of

 

Belfast, Waldo County, Maine 

 

Belfast

 

Beginning at a point on Swan Lake Avenue (State Route 141) at a power transmission line; thence, southeasterly through Upper Mason Pond to a point on Back Searsport Road 0.40 mile northeasterly of Swan Lake Avenue (State Route 141), reference utility pole #13/15/15; thence, southerly via said river into the waters of Belfast Bay; thence, southerly in said Bay to a point due east of a point on Northport Avenue ( U.S. Route 1) at the Belfast-Northport town line; thence, due west to said point on Northport Avenue (U.S. Route 1);

 

Thence, northwesterly to a point on Perkins Road 0.35 mile from Northport Avenue (U.S. Route 1), reference utility pole #11 north side of road; thence, northwesterly to the junction of Congress Street and proposed Airport Road (Federal-Aid Urban Route 2356); thence, via the many courses of the southerly, westerly, and northerly airport boundaries to a point due south of a point on Lincolnville Avenue (State Route 52) 0.20 mile southwesterly of U.S. Route 1, reference utility pole #42/28 east side of avenue; thence, due north to said point on Lincolnville Avenue (State Route 52);

 

Thence, northwesterly to the junction of Belmont Avenue (State Route 3) and Crocker Road; thence, northerly to a point on Marsh Road 0.41 mile westerly of Waldo Avenue (State Route 137), reference utility pole #19/9; thence, northerly to the junction of Waldo Avenue (State Route 137) and Doak Road; thence, easterly to a point on High Street 0.48 mile northwesterly of Vine Street; thence, easterly to a point on Robbins Road 0.59 miles northwesterly of Swan Lake Avenue (State Route 141), reference utility pole #11 north side of road;

 

Thence, northwesterly to a point on Petterson Hill Road 0.80 mile northwesterly of its easterly junction with Robbins Road, reference utility pole #32 north side of road; thence, northerly to the westerly extremity of Staples Road (private way) 0.43 mile westerly of Swan Lake Avenue (State Route 141); thence, northeasterly to Swan Lake Avenue (State Route 141) at a power transmission line, the point of beginning.

NOTE: Bridge, if any, bisected by the State Maintenance Boundary Line are in the rural area.
