The Stevens Brook Bridge that carries Bourne Avenue in the town of Wells through the Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge will reopen to traffic sometime during the mid-to-late afternoon hours tomorrow, Friday, May 15th, according to the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT). The bridge is located approximately one-half mile east of the intersection of Bourne Avenue and Route 1.

The 68-year-old Stevens Brook Bridge was replaced in this project, which began in early December last year, and since then, motorists have used a detour that included Route 1, Furbish Road, and Ocean Avenue.

The $741,000 project was constructed by T. Buck Construction of Auburn, and it will be reopened to traffic on target with the contract completion date. The MaineDOT project team would like to thank motorists and other users of the bridge for their patience while the project was conducted.
