Construction Set to begin on Route 117 in Turner

Motorists who utilize Route 117 in Turner should be aware of possible delays as crews begin construction on a $2.9 million road improvement project this Monday, September 21.

This 2.34 mile road rehabilitation project begins at the intersection of Route 4 and Route 117, and continues easterly 2.34 miles to the intersection of Upper Street and Center Bridge Road. The project includes paving, subsurface enhancements, drainage improvements, as well as guardrail and utility line improvements.

Crews will begin the project by clearing trees and brush, and they will also be installing cross culverts and catch basins this fall. At certain times, construction activity could impact traffic through lane closures, but one lane of alternating, one-way traffic will be maintained during these lane closures.

Pike Industries of Lewiston is the contractor for this $2.9 million project. The project is expected to be completed by the end of August, 2010.
