MaineDOT Suspends Work on I-295 Northbound

MaineDOT advises that the preliminary I-295 Northbound rehabilitation work will be suspended this Friday and Saturday but lanes will remain closed. The absence of work crews should minimize interruptions and driver distraction during the busy holiday weekend.

Work will restart on Sunday, May 24. At this time, lane closures in Brunswick and Gardiner will continue on northbound lanes. There will be no lane closures on I-295 Southbound. Those heading north on Sunday or Monday may want to allow extra time or use the Maine Turnpike.

This work is in preparation for the full closure of I-295 Northbound from Topsham to Gardiner, which will begin on June 16 and continue through August. At this time, northbound traffic will be routed on the newly rehabilitated southbound lanes and southbound drivers can take Route 201 or the Maine Turnpike.
