Bridge Opening delayed on Hodgdon Stream Bridge in Houlton

Construction of the new Hodgdon Stream Bridge in Houlton, originally scheduled to be completed by October 10, has been delayed, and MaineDOT expects the bridge to reopen by November 5. The Hodgdon Stream Bridge carries Route 2A over the southern branch of the Meduxnekeag River in Houlton.

The detour will remain in place until the bridge reopens. The signed detour utilizes the Porter Settlement Road, Smyrna Street, North Street and Kendall Street.

T-Buck Construction of Auburn is the contractor for the $1 million project. They are replacing the current structure with a new single span bridge. New guardrails will also be installed and the slopes will be stabilized with stone.

The old concrete girder bridge that had been removed was built in 1944 and is 37 feet long.
