Construction to cause nighttime ramp closures in Brunswick, Topsham

There will be ramp closures on Exits 28 and 31on I-295 Northbound starting at 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 30 as finishing work continues on the I-295 Northbound Rehabilitation project. The ramps will remain open during the day, but will be closed nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the following dates:

  • August 30 – Exit 28 on-ramp and Exit 31 off-ramp
  • August 31 – Exit 28 on-ramp and Exit 31 off-ramp
  • September 1 – Exit 28 on-ramp and Exit 31 off-ramp
  • September 2 – Exit 28 on-ramp
  • September 3 – Exit 28 on-ramp

As an alternate route for Exit 28, motorists can use Exit 24 or 31; and for Exit 31, motorists can use Exit 24 or 28. In addition, ongoing daytime lane closures will remain on both I-295 northbound and southbound between Topsham and Gardiner.

When driving through these work zones, please curtail cell phone use and be aware of changing traffic patterns, slow moving construction vehicles and construction personnel. Please observe posted construction zone speed limits. Decreasing speed excessively to observe construction activity poses a safety risk and creates congestion.

In anticipation of Labor Day holiday traffic there will be no lane or ramp closures from Friday, September 4 through Monday, September 7.
