New Border Crossing Facility to Open Monday in Calais

The Maine Department of Transportation is advising motorists that a new border crossing linking Calais, Maine and St. Stephen, New Brunswick will become operational on Monday, November 16 at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time.

This new border crossing connects Route 1 in Calais with Church Street in St. Stephen. At the center of the crossing is the new International Bridge, a 562-foot long concrete bridge that spans the St. Croix River. There are new customs facilities on both the U.S. and Canadian sides.

While the border crossing and facilities will become operational this Monday, a formal opening attended by federal, state and provincial officials from Canada and the United States will take place the following Monday, November 23.
