Belvedere Road in Damariscotta, Nobleboro To Close For Culvert Repair

Starting Tuesday, August 11, Belvedere Road in Damariscotta and Nobleboro will be closed so construction crews can replace two culverts that allow Oyster Creek to flow under the road. Signs are currently in place to alert motorists of the upcoming closure.

A detour will be in place that utilizes Center Street, Morgan Hill Road and Bayview Road. The twin twelve-foot steel culverts will be replaced with two aluminum culverts of the same size. The new aluminum culverts are more corrosion-resistant than the existing culverts.

N.F. Luce of Anson, Maine is the contractor for the $260,000 project. If work proceeds as planned, the road will be reopened to thru traffic by September.
