MAINEDOT SET TO BEGIN REPAIRS TO ROUTE 128 CULVERT IN WOOLWICH

Starting the week of July 13, MaineDOT Region 2 maintenance crews will begin rehabilitating a concrete culvert located in the Day's Ferry section of Woolwich on Route 128. The work to the concrete culvert will include widening of the upstream side, plus the installation of a raised concrete curb and railing system. Following work on the culvert itself, ditching will be improved on the approaches to the culvert and approach-beam guard-railing will be installed.

Due to the nature of these repairs, it will be necessary to close the northbound lane of Route128 in the project area. MaineDOT traffic engineers have directed the use of “STOP” and “PROCEED WHEN CLEAR" signs to regulate traffic flow through the work zone.

This work is expected to take several weeks to complete, depending upon weather conditions.

MaineDOT bridge maintenance managers urge motorists to observe all signage and exercise extra caution while traveling through the work area.
