MaineDOT To Install Traffic Counters On Route 1 In Wiscasset

MaineDOT crews will be installing traffic counters on a section of Route 1 in Wiscasset on Tuesday, October 28, and must limit traffic to one lane during the installation.

Crews will first close the northbound lane of Route 1 in Wiscasset approximately ½ mile south of the Birch Point Road. When installation on that lane is complete, crews will then close the southbound lane of Route 1 in order to complete installation of the counter.

Work is expected to take one day. In the event of rain, the installation will be delayed until October 30, 2008. MaineDOT uses these traffic counters in order to accurately count the number of vehicles that utilize a road.
