Scarborough Section of Route 1 to be paved

Paving operations on this 2.2-mile section of road will continue between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on both days. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times using one lane in either direction.

Motorists should expect delays of five to ten minutes, particularly in the Dunstan area where Payne Road intersects with Route 1. No wide loads will be allowed to utilize that section or Route 1 on either day. Scarborough police, certified flaggers, and traffic cones will be utilized to help control the flow of traffic. Motorists may want to seek alternate routes to avoid delays.

Paving crews from Dayton Sand and Gravel Co., Inc. of Dayton, Maine will lay a shim layer of pavement over the road in order to prepare the road for surface paving which is scheduled for the summer of 2009.
