MaineDOT Advises Wide Loads to Avoid Sandy River Bridge On Route 2 in New Sharon

MaineDOT is advising commercial vehicles with loads over ten feet in width to avoid the Route 2 Sandy River Bridge in New Sharon for the next three weeks due to construction on the bridge.

Crews are starting repairs to the eastbound lane of Route 2 on the bridge, and due to the curve in the bridge and the required placement of concrete jersey barriers, loads in excess of ten feet in width will have difficulty crossing the bridge. Normal width vehicles are not affected.

Crews have completed repairs on the westbound lanes, and now will start repairs on the eastbound lanes tomorrow. Traffic on the bridge is restricted to one-way, alternating traffic regulated by signal lights.

Repairs are expected to last three weeks, and when complete, normal traffic patterns will resume. Motorists are asked to drive cautiously through the construction zone.
