WORK TO DETOUR ORRINGTON TRAFFIC NEXT WEEK

The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) says work on the Snows Corner Road in Orrington will detour traffic there next week (August 27-31st).

“We need to replace a deteriorated, three-foot diameter drainage pipe that runs under the Snows Corner Road just east of Route 15,” explains Earl Eberhart of MaineDOT’s Region 4 Office in Bangor where the work is being coordinated.  “The work area is located on the Snows Corner Road between Route 15 and the Dow Road.”

“In additional to the removal of the old pipe and installation of the new pipe, we need to do some work in the streambed, creating the need to close that portion of the Snows Corner Road for the week.  We will be creating a marked detour to carry traffic around the closure,” he continued.

“We know the closure will inconvenience some Snows Corner Road users, but it’s work we need to do to prevent a failure of the existing culvert and a lengthier road closure.  By closing the road for the week, we can do what needs to be done more efficiently and less expensively than doing it some other way,” Eberhart concluded.
