Traffic Advisory for November 26, 2008
For More Information: Tim Cusick, Highway Maintenance Superintendent - 885-7000

ROUTE 119 IN MINOT TO REOPEN AT 4 P.M. TODAY

At 4:00 p.m. today, the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) will reopen a portion of Route 119 in Minot that has been closed to traffic since August.  Route 119 has been closed to through-traffic at this location so that workers could replace a large box culvert that was badly damaged by the flash flooding that followed a powerful storm on August 16.  The culvert is located just south of the intersection of Routes 119 and 124 in West Minot.

Motorists in the area have had to use detours on state or local roads since the storm occurred. “We’d like to thank residents and motorists who had to deal with this inconvenience since August,” said MaineDOT Region 1 Highway Maintenance Superintendent Tim Cusick. “It’s been a long haul, and the public has been patient and understanding while we got this job done,” he said.

MaineDOT maintenance forces worked with Shaw Brothers Construction on the project. Work on the culvert and roadway is substantially complete, but there will be some finish work and cleanup in the coming weeks, which may require one-way traffic for short periods of time.
