Work Progresses On Multiple Road Improvement Projects
In South Portland Area
South Portland, ME – The following updates have been provided by MaineDOT to assist and inform drivers in and around the greater Maine Mall area of South Portland:
Intersection of Spring Street and County Road: Paving of the newly improved intersection with its turning lanes in all directions is planned for Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8, weather permitting. Lane closures will be required and traffic delays are possible. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes if they wish to avoid the possibility of delay while this paving is being completed.
Western Avenue: Final striping and pavement marking is scheduled to begin on Tuesday evening, June 10. Work will begin at approximately 8:00pm, weather permitting, and will continue until approximately 6:00am the following morning. Flaggers and traffic officers will direct traffic during the painting and marking operations. Western Avenue has been widened to include two lanes in each direction with a turning lane in between, and new sidewalks have been constructed.
I-295 Exit 3 New Entrance Ramp: Construction of the new entrance ramp at Exit 3 of I-295 continues at Westbrook Street and West Broadway in South Portland. Night paving is scheduled for June 8 starting at 6:00pm, and again on June 9 and 10, starting at 7:00pm. Night paving for these three dates is planned to conclude by 6:00am the following mornings. All work is weather permitting, and delays are possible. The construction of the new entrance to I-295 northbound will provide improved, safer access to I-295 from East Broadway instead of Westbrook Street.
