MAINEDOT CLOSES LINCOLN MILLS BRIDGE IN CORRINNA
MaineDOT announced today that the Lincoln Mills Bridge that spans over the East Branch of the Sebasticook River in Corrinna is now closed to traffic.
The bridge is a 25-foot aluminum box culvert which allows the river to flow through it. The box is placed in position, then backfilled. It was built by the town of Corrinna in 1999. The wings, or sidewalls, of the bridge are failing, which compromises the stability of the roadway. No traffic is allowed over the bridge, and barricades are blocking the entrance to the bridge.
Town officials and MaineDOT are working to detour traffic to adjacent local roads. MaineDOT will work with the town to evaluate options for possible repairs.
