Banton Bridge in Lagrange is closed for repairs

MaineDOT announced today that it has closed the Banton Bridge in Lagrange in order to replace the bridge’s deteriorating wooden timber decking.

The Banton Bridge carries the South Lagrange Road over Dead Stream. South Lagrange Road connects Route 16 in Lagrange and Route 155 in Bradford.

The bridge features a timber decking over steel beams and MaineDOT estimates that it will take approximately one week to remove the old wooden bridge surface and replace it with new timbers. The daily vehicle traffic on the South Lagrange Road is approximately 100 vehicles a day.

The bridge is currently posted with a weight limit of 10 tons, and is scheduled to be replaced in the next two years.
