Nighttime Closing of I-295 Exits 31 and 31A Postponed
Night Work on Topsham Ramps will now begin Wednesday July 23rd and continue for at least two weeks

Beginning Wednesday, July 23rd at 7 pm, milling and paving crews will begin night work on the Exit 31 on-ramp and Exit 31A off-ramp on I-295 southbound in Topsham.  Work will be conducted nightly from 7 pm to 6:30 am.  Instead of using the Exit 31 southbound on- ramp, motorists should plan on using Exit 28. Those who normally use Exit 31A off-ramp should continue on Route 201 until it intersects with 196.

Once work on these ramps is completed, crews will immediately start work on Exit 31B in Topsham and Exit 28 in Brunswick. This work will also be conducted nightly from

7 pm until 6:30 am.  Those who would take Exit 31 B should continue onto 201 until it intersects with 196 and then go west toward Lewiston. Those who normally take Exit 28   would also stay on 201 until it intersects with Route 1.

As part of the I-295 Southbound rehabilitation project, crews will be working through the night removing guardrails, milling and removing pavement as well as repaving the ramps. The ramps must be shut down due to the size of the equipment and paving operations, as existing ramps are too narrow to maintain traffic while this work is being done. It is expected that this work will take at least two weeks, working nights only, seven days a week.
