Crews to Close Exit 1 off I-295 Northbound for repairs Monday, also begin repairs on culverts under I-295 in Freeport

Crews from MaineDOT will close Exit 1 on I-295 northbound on Monday, November 10 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in order to replace a failing culvert under the off-ramp.

Motorists who utilize Exit 1 should seek alternate routes on Monday. Drivers will be directed to use Exit 4 of off I-295 northbound, or if they are traveling from the south on the Maine Turnpike, they should utilize Exit 42. Crews are expected to complete repairs to Exit 1 by 3:00 p.m. Monday.

Further north on I-295 in Freeport, approximately ¾ miles north of exit 22, crews will be repairing three culverts that cross under both the north and southbound lanes of I-295. Crews will be relining these three deteriorating culverts. In an effort to minimize traffic impacts, travel lanes of the interstate will remain open during the repairs. The only time there will be lane closures will be for tree cutting and delivery of materials, and those lane closures are only permitted between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The right-hand shoulders of the road will be closed for the duration of the work.

CPM Constructors of Freeport will be conducting the work. They are expected to complete the project by December 10, 2008.
