Route 1 Northbound Section In Brunswick To Be Repaved

MaineDOT announced today that a section of Route 1 Northbound in Brunswick will be repaved starting next week.
Crews from Harry C. Crooker & Sons of Topsham will start removing pavement this Monday, August 11. The project starts near Cushing Street and continues on Route 1 Northbound for 2.82 miles and ends just beyond the Cooks Corner off-ramp. Crews will also repave the northbound on-ramp from Mason Street and the last 1,000 feet of the Northbound on-ramp from the Route 196 Brunswick-Topsham Bypass Bridge.

Crews will first remove the pavement by milling, and motorcyclists should use caution when traveling over the milled surface. There will be daily lane closures, but there will be no lane closures during the morning peak travel time of 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. One lane will remain open at all times. During Labor Day weekend and the weekend of the Great State of Maine Air Show at Brunswick Naval Air Station there will be no construction and two lanes of traffic will be open. Crews will suspend work from 12:00 p.m. Friday, August 30 until 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 2 for Labor Day travel; and from 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 3 until 6:00 a.m. Monday, September 8 for the air show.

If the project proceeds on schedule and there are no unforeseen problems or weather delays, construction is expected to be completed by the middle of October.
