Crews To Start Work On Road Projects in Brewer, Old Town and Clifton
MaineDOT announced today that construction is set to begin on four separate road improvement projects in the Brewer, Old Town and Clifton.“Drivers in these areas should expect delays as traffic will be reduced to one lane through the construction zones,” said Court McCrea of the MaineDOT Highway Program.
Lane Construction Corp., of Cheshire, Connecticut with subsidiaries in Maine is set to begin three pavement projects the week of July 28 and an additional project the week of August 18.
In Brewer, crews will be milling and repaving the Parkway South between Wilson Street and I-395 as well as a section of South Main Street between Abbot and Wilson Street. The South Main Street repaving should be complete by the end of August. The Parkway South repaving project is scheduled to be complete by mid-October. There will be alternating one-way traffic on these roads during work hours.
Next week, crews will be in Clifton, milling and repaving a section of Route 9. Crews will begin east of Parks Pond on Route 9, and will continue working eastward to the Clifton/Amherst line. There will be alternating one-way traffic in the work zone, and crews expect to complete the project by mid-October.
In Old Town, crews will be milling and repaving the section of Route 2 between Chester Street and Route 2A starting the week of August 18. This project is expected to be complete by mid-October. Crews will alternate one-way traffic through the work zone until construction is completed. MaineDOT asks that motorists use extra care and pay careful attention when traveling through work zones. Signage near the projects will alert motorists to slow down as the approach the areas and drivers should pay special attention to the directions of construction flaggers, whose job it is to help them get through the work area safely.
