Route 105 Bridge in Appleton will be reduced to one lane

The Maine Department of Transportation is set to begin repairs on the Jonas Davis Bridge over Pettingill Stream on Route 105 in Appleton starting the week of December 7, 2009.

MaineDOT will be installing a new bridge railing system along the concrete bridge, as well as new guardrail on the approach area to the bridge.

During the repairs, the bridge will remain open to traffic, but will be restricted to one-way, alternating traffic. MaineDOT traffic engineers have specified the use of “STOP” and “PROCEED WHEN CLEAR” signage to regulate traffic flow across the bridge. There will also be signage posted preceding the bridge in order to alert motorists of the traffic pattern change.

If there are no unanticipated problems or weather delays, construction should be completed within ten weeks.
