About the MaineDOT Library
Location
The Maine DOT Library is located on the first floor of the Transportation Building, which is on Child Street in Augusta.
Collection Size
Over 12,000 books and documents, 400+ videotapes, CDs, DVDs, and audiocassettes, and numerous periodicals.
Collection Description
Here are materials on almost every aspect of transportation, including design, construction, environmental issues, transportation policy, alternative and public transportation, archaeology and historic preservation, and transportation history. There are many FHWA documents, AASHTO publications, Maine DOT research and other publications, and a nearly complete collection of Highway Research Board/Transportation Research Board reports and syntheses, and Strategic Highway Research Program reports. In addition, the library has a collection of materials on TQM, management, leadership and mentoring, computer skills, and English writing and usage. A complete set of Maine Revised Statutes Annotated is maintained in the library, which also has a subscription to the Federal Register.
Services
Literature searches using many different resources, including TRIS, a database maintained by the Transportation Research Board; and interlibrary loan, which allows use of materials not available in this library. The library is open to MDOT employees, consultants, other state employees, and the public.
