Title VI Quiz and Certificate
The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) as a recipient of federal financial assistance is required to comply with various nondiscrimination laws and regulations including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes. It is the responsibility of the MaineDOT to ensure all individuals are treated equally in all of its programs and activities. MaineDOT expects every employee, sub-recipient (i.e., local agencies, Metropolitan Planning Organizations, grantees, etc.), including consultants, contractors and suppliers of federal-aid funds to be aware of and apply the intent of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes.
To comply with 23 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) § 200.9 (b) (9), it is recommended that all pertinent MaineDOT employees receive Title VI training on an annual basis. This training module will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of Title VI and related statutes.
Quiz and Certificate
Upon successfully completing this quiz, a notice will be sent to the Civil Rights Office and a certificate of completion will be sent to you and your designated Title VI Liaison; please keep a copy for your record.
Message from the Director
The Maine Department of Transportation, under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes, ensures that no person in the State of Maine, on the grounds of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, or sexual orientation, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity it administers.
We continue to improve our program and expand our understanding of the importance of equity and the damaging impact of discrimination. Our office is committed to the elimination of discrimination in our work place, on our projects and with our partners. We do so through education, technical support, and availability with the belief that each person, business, non-profit, and government in our state deserves equitable treatment in the workplace and in every area of public transportation.
~Theresa Savoy, Director
