CADD Support: MDOT MX Add-Ins
A variety of Add-ins have been developed for
use with MX at MDOT. Several of these have been incorporated into our
customized MX Menu structure. They are listed under their various menu
headings below.
These Add-Ins have been updated to work
with both imperial and metric units. They are packaged in
Add-Ins.zip, which can be downloaded
from the link here, or from the MDOT MX
Downloads Page.
Under Design Menu

MDOT Driveway Design.exe - An add-in to help design
perpendicular driveway entrances in accordance with MDOT
Standard Details and specifications.

MDOT Geometry Strings.exe - A tool to use in creating a
PENT string with points terminal ends of curbing, and a PCBH string with points at
the center of each proposed catch basin location.
-
MDOT Urban Match.exe - MDOT's Urban Match Add-In was
developed to provide a means to easily create interface strings for urban
projects by user-specified station and offset values where it's not necessary
to hold a constant cross slope over a long range of stations.
Under Draw Menu

MDOT Create Alignment Drawing.exe- This application
will create an alignment drawing and launch the MDOT DAB
Add-In to generate an MDOT Alignment Report on the alignments
included in the drawing.

MDOT Draw Plan Pages.exe - Creates sheeted plan drawings
in a color scheme that dithers well to grayscale when plotted.

Under Personal Add-Ins Menu
-
MX Survey Processing - An add-in which provides an interface
to the programs used in the various steps in processing our survey data from SDMS into
MX. This add-in, and the programs it calls, are highly customized to our particular
workflow and conventions.
-
MDOT Survey Setout.exe - This add-in generates an input file
of horizontal angles and distances from traverse points to the points to be
laid out.
-
MDOT Limits.exe - Finds the ranges of point numbers used in
the data collector (PRJ) files. This application helps to determine what point
number should be used to start additional survey on the project.
-
MDOT Ditch Fix.exe - A tool for Survey Editors to use
in correcting the direction of DL (Ditch Line) and CU (Centerline of rUn) strings.
Identifies strings which flow "uphill" and strings with mixed grades. Interactively
reverses strings and updates our GROUND**.INP file.
-
MDOT Traverse Strings.exe - An add-in to view certain data from
our Traverse.inp files and to assist in breaking and converting our older PSSA traverse
strings into Cadastre strings in accordance with our current standard.
-
MDOT Point Info.exe - A custom Status dialog which gives additional
information, including the string's bearing at the point and which "ground" input file a
point comes from.
-
AddStation.exe - An add-in to insert a station point into an
alignment.
-
MDOT Make ALI.exe - An add-in to make the alignment file for
field layout with SDMS.
