augusta outer western avenue project
Augusta Outer Western Avenue Project
MaineDOT will begin reconstruction of a portion of Outer Western Avenue in Augusta starting Monday, September 30th . The Contractor, RJ Grondin of Gorham will begin with tree removal and installing new gas, water, sewer facilities, as well as portions of the core components of the storm water and drainage systems this fall. The work will continue into 2014 and is expected to be completed on or before August 30th, 2014.
While developing this project, we have taken great strides to reduce any delays to motorists, however, please understand this will be a construction zone and there will be times that work will have some impacts on traffic. In an effort to reduce delays, the Contractor has restrictions outlined in the contract to minimize disruptions which include:
During construction we would like to emphasize that the businesses are open and will have access during construction. When entering or exiting a business, side road, or driveway please be attentive as there will be much activity. Please take that extra moment to look twice and proceed with caution.
Once completed, this section of Outer Western Ave will have upgraded utilities, additional lanes for turning and through traffic, and a new traffic signal system which will make traveling this segment much more efficient for everyone.
Thank you for your patience and your continued safe driving through construction work zones. Please see the map below that outlines the work area for your convenience.
MaineDOT understands this will be an inconvenience but there is a better road ahead. Thank you for your patience and please drive safely and obey reduced speed limits when driving in work zones.
