Code Enforcement Report 2007

The drop in the housing market came home to Eddington in 2007, although it had started in 2006. Stick-built and modular home construction saw a 28% drop below 2006 and a 63% drop below 2005. The valuation of all proposed structures was 1,869,400. Total home value was $1,033,000 for an average of $103,300.

A comparison breakdown of the home building permits issued is as follows:

Homes

  • Stick-built (9)
  • Modular (1)
  • Manufactured (2)

Other Permits for 2007:

  • House Additions, reconstructions and renovations (10)
  • Manufactured Housing (2)
  • Manufactured Housing addition (1)
  • Garages (15)
  • Garage additions (2)
  • Outbuildings (18)
  • Cell Towers (2)
  • Decks (4)
  • Green House (1)
  • Fire Escape (1)
  • Pool (1)
  • Dance Hall (1)

There were 44 plumbing permits issued; 20 internal permits and 24 external permits. This is an 8% drop below 2006 and a 48% drop below 2005. This is reflection of the decrease in housing.

We have seen an increase in the use of shelters of canvas or plastic over metal supports. The courts have ruled these to be structures Building permits are required for these, as well as Shoreland Zone permits if applicable, and all pertinent setbacks must be adhered to.

Respectfully Submitted,
