Arts Department. Maine Arts Events Calender. http://mainearts.maine.gov/events/default.asp Nellie M. Roundy, is a true Bentonian, the daughter of Bryant and Lucinda (Pettigrew) Roundy. Job Roundy, one of the earliest settlers, was an ancestor. Quiet, steady, modest, Nellie devoted herself to her family and has sung her songs. Some of the verses have been published in various newspapers, “Nature’s Diamonds” is one of them. NATURE’S DIAMONDS Diamonds on the water Sparkling, clear and bright; Diamonds in the dewdrops, In the morning light. Diamonds in the windows, Reflecting sunset’s rays; Diamonds in the headlights, Blinding as you gaze. Diamonds in the heavens On a starry night; What can be more beautiful Than this wondrous sight? Diamonds at night on the ocean, Deflecting from tarpon scales. If one wants a thrill This never fails.
Nature, with myriad diamonds Brightens all our way. Help us to value them, dear Lord, And thank Thee anew each day. Comment and poem from: Sebasticook-Benton Maine 1842-1942 by Chester E.
