2009 is the first year of alewife fishing harvest for the Town of Benton since the Winslow dam was removed.  Total revenue to the Town of Benton:  $19,108.32.

The estimated number of alewives that passed upriver this year as of May 28, 2009:   1,203,499.

TOWN OF BENTON   -  INVITATION FOR BID TO BUILD ACCESS ROAD.    Bidding closed at 4:00 PM, August 7, 2009 for construction of an access road from Clinton Avenue toward the Sebasticook River to accomodate alewife harvesting.   Thirteen bids were opened at the regular Selectmen's meeting on Monday, August 10th.  The contract was awarded to Len Poulin Inc.
