Town of Wales Ordinances

All current town ordinances that have been adopted are available in electronic format below (both in HTML and Word readable formats).    Any electronic applications, permits, or forms associated with these ordinances can be found under the Most Requested Services section of this web site.

The modified Shoreland Zoning Ordinance, Land Use Ordinance and Definitions Ordinance will be presented at the 2009 Town Meeting for adoption.   Copies of these draft Ordinances are available for review below.  A Public Hearing on the modifications to these ordinances will be held at the Wales Central School on March 30, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.  A representative from DEP will be attending to answer any questions on the Shoreland Zoning Ordinance and map changes.  There will also be a representative for Central Maine Power attending to answer any questions about our Land Use Ordinance modifications which have been made to facilitate review of their proposed Power Grid upgrade project.   The Proposed Mining Ordinance still requires additional work and the board will hold a public hearing for town input and comment when a final draft has been completed.  Town members are welcome to attend meetings at which this draft ordinance is being discussed.  Copies of draft ordinances as well as all current ordinances are below.   Also available is the Town of Wales Comprehensive Plan in PDF format below.  Updated versions of the maps in the plan are available as individual pdf files.
