Code Enforcement Officer: Ken Pratt 576-1413 - messages can be left at 375-8881 -- Building Permits, Initial Subdivision Plans, Plumbing Permits, etc. - Every other Tuesday 9 a.m. to noon -- dates posted at town office. (Please call ahead for an appointment as the CEO is sometimes on site inspections during this time period).
- All building construction requires approval from the Code Enforcement Officer before you start.
Animal Control Officer: Wendell Strout can be reached through the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office at 784-7361 or 1-800-492-9737. General Assistance: Contact Randall Greenwood leave a message at the Town Office at 375-8881. Burning Permits: Contact Chief, Carl Hinkley at 375-4056 or Assistant Chief, Anthony Siderio At 375-8122. Food Pantry: Available to low income families and for emergencies. Contact Ruby Austin at 933-2399, Marilyn Greenwood at 375-6604, or Betty Leighton at 375-6618. Town Treasurer: Sharon Siegel (Leave her a message at the town office and she will get back to you as soon as possible.) Monmouth Transfer Station (933-2650): Wales has trash service through the Monmouth Transfer Station. The transfer station hours are: - Summer hours: April 1 - Oct. 31; Tues., Thurs., Sat. & Sun. 8 am - 4 pm.
- Winter hours: Nov 1 - March 31; Tues. & Thurs., 10 am - 4 pm; Sat. & Sun., 8 am - 4 pm.
- Permits for the transfer station are issued annually and they are issued based on vehicle registrations. They expire at the time a registration expires and are distributed during the registration process. Should you need one, you can come in with your registration and the Tax Collector will issue you one.
