Thursday, October 29, 2009

A colorful display of world currency, from the collection of Austin Burtt, will be on display at the Windham Public Library through December 31st. The 14-year old collector has been gathering coins for 3 years, stating that he has always liked coins and "I have always been a pirate." His favorite coin on display is an 1810 Spanish doubloon which was minted in Mexico. There are coins from 19 countries, some of which are Germany, China, Ireland, Poland, and Ecuador. Paper currency from Greece, Canada, Costa Rica, and the Bahamas are also on display. Bright national flags adorn the exhibit, catching library patrons' eyes as they enter the 2nd floor. Come by the library for a look at this interesting exhibit. For directions or hours, please call the Windham Public Library at 892-1908.
