Senator Garrett Mason Posts Perfect Attendance Record in the Maine Senate

Androscoggin County legislator participates in 100 percent of roll calls

AUGUSTA, ME - State Senator Garrett Mason (R-Androscoggin County) compiled a perfect voting record during the 125th Legislature. The Lisbon lawmaker was present for 100 percent of the 510 roll call votes taken in the Maine Senate during his first two-year term in the Senate.

"My constituents have entrusted me to work hard on their behalf in the Legislature, and I take that responsibility very seriously," said Senator Mason. "It is important for me to be a strong and dependable voice for them in the Senate, and I'm proud that I have been able to maintain a perfect roll call attendance record during the 125th Legislature."

Over the course of the two years of the legislative session, lawmakers dealt with 2,049 bills of which 700 became law. Legislators enacted significant reforms to Maine's welfare, pension, health insurance, workers' compensation, tax and regulatory systems.

As Chair of the Criminal Justice Committee and member of the Education Committee, Senator Mason helped shape laws enacted that will aid in the prevention of bullying in schools and help protect and support victims of domestic violence.

Senator Mason was also pleased with the enactment of the Dairy Stabilization bill that will provide milk price stability and predictability. Mason stated that it will be a big boost to Maine's family farms, many located in Androscoggin County, and the jobs that depend on them.

Senate Republican Leader Jon Courtney (R-York County) praised Senator Mason's commitment to his legislative responsibilities. "In two short years, Garrett has become a common sense and refreshing voice in the Senate," stated Senator Courtney. "He has been a strong supporter for reining-in state spending, providing more educational funding and choices for students, advocating for greater transparency within state agencies, and developing strategies for improving Maine's business climate. Garrett has been a big part of helping put Maine back on track toward prosperity and creating opportunities that will keep our young people here at home."
