Augusta - Senator Gerald Davis has been appointed to the Legislature's Joint Standing Committee on Criminal Justice for the 124th Maine Legislature.
"I am pleased to serve as the lead Republican on the Criminal Justice Committee. We have some important issues facing our jails. From over crowding to consolidation to finding ways to save money to help the Appropriations Committee close the $850 million budget gap, I will work to ensure that the work of the committee is in the best interest of our local communities," Senator Davis said.
"Senator Davis will be an outstanding member of the Criminal Justice Committee. His experience, calm demeanor and thoughtful approach to problem-solving will be tremendous assets as the Committee works to find solutions to the many challenges facing Maine law enforcement and our corrections systems," said Senate Republican Leader Kevin Raye, of Washington County, who recommended Davis for the position.
The Criminal Justice Committee is composed of 3 Senators and 10 Representatives.
