Augusta - State Senator Jerry Davis (R-Cumberland County) took his oath of office Wednesday. The oath was given by Governor Baldacci in the Maine Senate Chamber. Senator Davis was joined by his wife, 2 of his 3 children, and 4 of his 10 grandchildren for the ceremony.
Senator Davis was first elected to the Senate in November of this year and serves the people of Chebeague Island, Cumberland, Falmouth, Gray, Long Island, North Yarmouth, and Yarmouth. Prior to his election to the Senate he served 8 years in the Maine House of Representatives. He is replacing Senator Karl Turner in the Senate who was termed out after 8 years of service.
Senator Davis remarked on being sworn in, "I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the people of Cumberland County. It is a privilege to be the Senator from District 11 and I will work hard everyday to ensure that the people of my district are well represented in Augusta. I look forward to finding common sense solutions to the problems we face as a state."
