Welcome to the Maine Senate website. Here you can find biographical information on senators, committee membership and schedules, session schedules, legislation and other documents. You can also watch the Senate online whenever we are in session.

It is our goal to make this site useful and easy to navigate for everyone who visits.

You will note that the Legislature is in session only part of the year. That is because of Maine’s tradition of having a citizens’ legislature. The 125th Maine Senate consists of 20 Republicans, 14 Democrats and 1 independent, who come from many walks of life such as education, small business, health care and social work, manufacturing, forestry, the law, while others are retirees. We are a part time legislature but we serve our constituents on a full time basis.
