On November 6, 2012, Senator Roger Katz was re-elected by the people Augusta, China, Oakland,
Sidney, and Vassalboro to represent them in the Maine Senate.
Katz is a longtime activist in his community where he has served as Chair of United Way and
Co-Chair of Team Cony which helped raise $1.5 million for our new high school. He has also served
as President of Kennebec Valley YMCA, Chair of Augusta Charter Commission, Co-Chair of Augusta
Bicentennial Celebration, Chair of Augusta Development Corporation, and Vice President of the Maine
State Music Theatre.
Le Club Calumet awarded Katz its "Citizen of the Year" award for his community service and the
Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce honored Katz as the "Businessperson of the Year."
As an accomplished attorney, Katz is a former President of Maine Trial Lawyers Association and
has been named one of "Outstanding Lawyers in America." He also co-hosted "It's the Law" -
statewide television program on Time Warner Cable.
Roger Katz resides in Augusta with his wife Birdie Newman Katz. They are the proud parents of
two adult children, Shari and Jonathan.
