JOINT STANDING COMMITTEE ON APPROPRIATIONS AND FINANCIAL AFFAIRS

      Public Hearing Schedule for the Governor’s Proposed Supplemental Budget State Fiscal Years 2008/2009

 

            The Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs and the identified policy committees of the Legislature will be holding public hearings in Room 228 of the State House on the Governor’s supplemental budget bill for the 2008-2009 biennium LR 3445 "An Act To Make Supplemental Appropriations and Allocations for the Expenditures of State Government and To Change Certain Provisions of the Law Necessary to the Proper Operations of State Government for the Fiscal Years Ending June 30, 2007 an June 30, 2008”.  The proposed budget initiatives may be viewed at:

The committee will hear testimony regarding all portions of the bill affecting the General Fund and the Fund for Healthy Maine except Part B (self-funded position reclassifications and range changes).

 

Please note that Part “YY” of the bill (directs the development and implementation of a plan of consolidation, eliminating duplication or creating greater efficiencies in certain ministerial licensing and registration functions, food safety inspection activities and the regulation of drinking water and septic systems and  requires that the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources, the Department of Conservation, the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and the Department of Marine Resources merge into not more than 2 departments) is scheduled to be heard at the end of the day on Wednesday January 30th after the other issues to be heard jointly with the Joint Committee on Inland Wildlife and Fisheries.  This part will be heard in conjunction with members of the other affected committees of jurisdiction.

 

Due to the very tight timetable, the Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs requests that testimony be limited to three minutes.
