Rep. Flaherty
Rep. Sean Flaherty, who represents part of Scarborough,
is serving in his first term in the Maine House of Representatives.
Flaherty is a member of the Legislature ’s
Utilities and Energy Committee.
Well known as a record-setting swimmer for Scarborough High School,
Flaherty won a swimming scholarship to George Washington University
in Washington D.C., and graduated in May 2007. In his more than
five years in our nation’s capital, Rep. Flaherty was involved
in a number of causes and worked in a variety of fields. Flaherty
brings a diverse background to the Legislature, from his efforts
helping to build the National Maritime Heritage Foundation to coordinating
a consumer advocacy network.
Rep. Flaherty is active in his community, including his role as
a youth swimming coach. He is a member of the Gov. William King
Lodge #219, Fraternity Lodge #54, and is a 32nd Degree Scottish
Rite Mason. Flaherty currently serves on the board of Scarborough
Community Scholarship Foundation, Maine Swimming Inc., and the
New Leaders Council. As volunteer coordinator for Scarborough’s
350th Triathlon, he helped to run the first ever triathlon in his
home town of Scarborough.
