Rep. Steven Butterfield is serving his first term
in the Maine House of Representatives, and is a member of the Joint
Standing Committee on Labor.
A native Mainer, Steve has been committed to public service his
whole life, earning the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts
of America at a young age, and attending the George Washington
University and the University of Maine. Steve has worked in the
U.S. Congress for now-Governor John Baldacci, and has coordinated

In Maine, Steve has extensive experience as a community organizer.
At Maine Initiatives, he worked in youth outreach as director of
the Chrysalis Youth Action Fund, which provided grants to youth
and student organizations dedicated to improving their communities.
He has also built a statewide coalition of home health care workers,
companies, consumers and advocates for the Maine State Employees
Association and Service Employees International Union Local 1989.
