Rep. Joshua Tardy

District 25

Representative Joshua Tardy is serving his fourth term in the Maine House of Representatives representing District 25, which includes Corinna, part of Corinth, Exeter, Newport and Plymouth. Rep. Tardy was unanimously re-elected for a second term as House Republican Leader in the 124th Legislature. In his second term at the State House, Rep. Tardy was elected by his fellow caucus members to the post of Assistant House Republican Leader.

During his first term Rep. Tardy served on the Legislature’s Joint Standing Committee on Taxation as well as the Apportionment Commission, the group charged with reconfiguring the House and Senate districts in Maine following the decennial census. He was also named to the Joint Select Committee on Regionalization and Community Cooperation.

Rep. Tardy, an attorney, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maine in Orono. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Maine School of Law in 1993. Upon graduation, Rep. Tardy worked as a litigation associate at the Bangor firm of Rudmen & Winchell. Since 1995 he has been in private practice in Newport and in 2004 became a partner in the firm of Irwin, Tardy & Morris, running the Newport office. The firm also has offices in Portland, Brunswick, and Dover-Foxcroft. Rep. Tardy’s practice includes a wide range of fields, including civil litigation, criminal law, real estate, commercial law and personal injury. He also is co-owner of Moosehead Manufacturing located in Monson; and he and his wife, Mary Ellen, are also co-owners of a banquet business in the Newport area called Millennium Weddings & Convention Center.

Rep. Tardy is active in many community organizations including the Masons, Elks, Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine and the Maine State and Penobscot Bar Associations. He is the past Commissioner of Maine Girls AAU Basketball, served as chairman of the MSAD 48 school board, is president of the Nokomis Alumni Association and is a member of the Board of Trustees of Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, Maine.

Rep. Tardy and his wife Mary Ellen reside in his hometown of Newport.
