Rep. H. Sawin Millett, Jr.

District 95

Representative Sawin Millett is serving his sixth term in the Maine House of Representatives representing District 95, which includes Greenwood, Norway, Waterford and West Paris. Representative Millett was elected to the 104th and 105th Legislatures and served on the Education Committee. In the 121st Legislature he was chosen for the Joint Select Committee on Health Care Reform. Rep. Millett is currently the ranking Republican member on the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee.

Rep. Millett earned his undergraduate degree from Bates College and his Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Maine. He has had a remarkable career in public service working in Maine government as the Commissioner of Education (1975-79), the Commissioner of Finance (1989-91) and the Commissioner of Administrative & Financial Services (1991-95). He began his career as an educator and more recently acted as the western Maine Regional Director for the Office of U.S. Senator Susan Collins.

Rep. Millett is also active in local and regional governmental, civic and fraternal affairs. He has served as Waterford’s Town Meeting Moderator for the past 28 years. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce and Volunteers of America and is a member of several Masonic bodies.

Rep. Millett is married with five children and seven grandchildren.
