Rep. William P. Browne

District 58

Representative Bill Browne of Vassalboro is serving his fourth term in the Maine House of Representatives, representing District 58, part of Augusta, Windsor and Vassalboro. He has been appointed the Ranking Republican member on the Legislature's Joint Standing Committee on Transportation.

Rep. Browne taught chemistry at Waterville High School for more than 30 years. He also coached football and golf. Rep. Browne graduated from Cony High School and received his undergraduate education at the University of Maine/Orono and his Masters degree from the University of Utah. He has been a member of the National Education Association and the Maine Education Association. In the Town of Vassalboro he has served on various committees, including the Budget Committee.

Since his retirement from teaching Rep. Browne has more time for his other interests -- farming, golfing and traveling. His family owns the Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro and the Lakewood Course in Madison. He and his wife, Carolyn, have two married sons and four grandchildren.
